Resumen
The collection of Nahuatl manuscripts held by the Newberry Library, in Chicago, while not being the largest of its kind in the United States, certainly contains some of the most important individual works. All of the pieces are part of the Edward E. Ayer collection and were acquired before 1911. Many of these pieces have long been recognized as truly exceptional works, while others have only recently been identified. As a whole, the Ayer collection of books and manuscripts is one of the finest dealing with the North American lndian and colonial Latin America, Mexico in particular.
